Silver Slugger Award winners announced

Among the most prestigious annual honors for hitters in Major League Baseball, the Silver Slugger Awards for 2018 are being unveiled on MLB Network.

MLB coaches and managers vote each season for the players they feel are the top offensive producers at each position in the field in the American League and National League. Voters base their selections on a combination of offensive statistics, including batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage, as well as their general impressions of a player’s overall offensive value. Managers and coaches are not allowed to vote for players on their own team.
